'Management information systems' is a phrase that refers to the employment of software for purposes of planning and administration in firms, so as to enhance the efficiency of operations.  In  the health sector, use of these systems in institutions that deal with health matters is mainly done, for the good of the patient.  There are several software products that are categorized into various groups based on their usage.  There are products for the purpose of health administration, care management, public health, bio-surveillance, dental, and records management. Other uses for these software applications are  usage in research laboratories and the medical practice of imaging and visualization, among others. The purpose of this essay is to discuss two software applications that are used in the medical care setting. The other role is to analyze how close the country is, to realizing George W Bush's 2014 goal of having all patients' information in digital form (Vogel, 2010).

FACETS is a software that has been designed for the purposes of administration in a health care setting. It facilitates the administrators` task to assign duties at hand and prioritize them by grading workloads. It also incorporates care and financial management.
It also will ensure that time spent by physicians, patients, and suppliers studying financial records for the purpose of ascertaining payments has been cut considerably by the use of this software. therefore, health care workers have been accorded more time to attend to the patients. Patients themselves too do not have to make tiring queues for the purposes of inquiring and making payments. FACETS, being a human resource organizer will ensure staff know their responsibilities and therefore are efficient. Timely and accurate information concerning finances will allow patients and health care providers to concentrate on other issues. Presence of health management software will cause the quality ratings of the institution to go up; due to monitoring of their quality care by these systems; ability of these organizations to deliver fast services; and they are easily perceived to patient oriented due to efforts in their management (Vogel, 2010).
President George Bush's objective for the health sector by 2014 was to have all medical records in digital form. There is evidence to ascertain this is being accomplished all over the country. Various studies have been carried out to ascertain the population of doctors who need to have their records upgraded to digital form. These were found to be 96%.
