Most of the case studies are divided into three categories to which some are used as test theories the researcher examines what has happened, the second category is the present time where a researcher looks into a current problem and tries to look at the effects and the third category known as a long-term case study where a researcher tries to relate how it develops over a long period of time.
Most of the case studies used in learning can be used to testing some of the previous theories as well as in the formulation of other theories since it helps in the generating more qualitative data which are useful in conducting scientific experiments from research done a while back. There is no doubt and it should be noted that case studies provide a valuable form of research which is usually important for every industry or fields that make good use of them but there also exists some disadvantages that relate whether students can feel some of the pressure.
Case studies are advantageous because they help in the stimulation of new research if the findings are found to be valuable. Without case studies, lots of research we read today would not have been possible without these studies. There has been a lot of questions regarding the teaching method used in promoting the objectives to which questions remain about some of the functionalities of case studies. Even though most of the lecturers and teachers have written case studies for their students, the production of these studies consumes more time and the majority are written by people who are not qualified in respective fields.
Some scientists have also noted that most case studies are not properly executed and, therefore, miss some of the reliability that one looks for. It is difficult to finding something interesting that one can research and thus changes the outcomes of most researchers making it difficult for students in analyzing some of the data that has been collected. Some of the case studies have too many biases and many are collected differently. Many of these studies play a very important role in the learning process of students which assists in their creative thinking. There exist two types of case studies that offer deeper knowledge enabling them to think critically. They include the living and the traditional case study. Most of the attitudes to many of these students are that they prefer using a way of learning that requires the use of minimal effort which is being promoted by most of the authors hence making the vision easy for them thus not allowing students understand real-life situations.
