Many computer scientists try to explore their tendencies and engage in their capacities to try and engage in two distinct disciplines on a regular basis. They are known to explore their cognitive, cultural, social aspects to their engagement. Many of the scientists are known to make music as their avocation.
Most of the skills related to music-making among the lives of individuals with a computer science vocation are made possible using cognitive skills and affected by social and cultural factors. Most of the skills are made possible due to the related scientific ways of thinking such as pattern recognition, formation, visual thinking, aesthetics, and empathy.

There exist factors that are known to affect some of the cognitive skills such as family background, economic conditions, one’s lifestyle, etc. Art and science go way back to the ancient Greek times of Pythagoras. Music has well been regarded as a science which has seen much consideration in the interdisciplinary research literature by many researchers.
Researchers in many of their articles have shown many relations between music and mathematics, reviewing the mathematical principles underlying various aspects of music along the acoustic, harmonic, and compositional dimensions, with the individuals who explored these aspects. They try to explore the presence of mathematics in the interrelations of tones such as dissonance, consonance and the regularity in the vibrations. Researchers such as Kepler’s (1571-1630) and Mersenne’s (1588-1648) who explain the ratios of vibrations created by the planet’s motions, the use of Fourier analysis. Helmholtz’s (1821-1894) contributes in the understanding to some of the phenomenon behind combinational tones where he explains how two tones played together to produce additional tones then later continue their explanation with additional information to how mathematical aspects of music, such as the existence of geometry (e.g., fractals) and group transformations in some of the musical compositions.
Many computer scientists who have a serious avocation to music-making as their serious avocation are associated with their cognitive skills and thus many theories exist that explain the development process of knowing, acquisition, perception and the transfer of knowledge. So, what are some of the relationships between cognitive skills of scientists and artists?
Many of the above disciplines share the same cognitive skills. Noteworthy relations between success as scientists and engagement in arts and crafts avocations is seen with the Nobel Laureates displaying the average number of arts and crafts avocations among all the other groups. Correlation between the two i.e. scientific success and artistic engagement is explained by the wider exposure to some of the artistic activities people in scientific societies have compared to people in other societies.
Many people from different disciplines ranging from research scientists, psychologists, philosophers, and neuroscientists have tried to explore some of their preconditions with music-making. Researchers explain that scientists and musicians are known to use common areas of the brain which are typical to problem-solving and visual thinking. Most of their studies involve the use of equipment such as MRIs which explain why people are extensively engaged in music-making to either solve a problem. Other researchers such as Rauscher, Shaw, and Ky (1993) claim that short exposure to Mozart’s music can enhance temporary spatial-temporal reasoning. Computer programming has given scientists aesthetical considerations to some of the algorithms, software programs, programming languages, and user interfaces. Researcher considers programming as an art since it is known to produce objects of beauty.
It should be noted that elegance in programming is equally important for designers as well as users of the software because it is known to promote software that is technically superior as well as a pleasure to use. Use of this software is known to instill confidence to its users which helps in aiding them to understate the software. It also keys to developing an aesthetic taste in other software systems, thus encourages the further development of software and discourages the unsophisticated.
It should be noted that computer science and music both have similar aspects to which they share and thus many of the researchers relate not only is it a craft but also art.
